Hybrid World Adelaide Lab
If you have a tech-focused solution to a real-world problem, apply to the Hybrid World Adelaide (HWA) LAB to qualify for an intensive, two-day mentoring workshop which could make you eligible to share in $85,000 to fund your idea.
You can be from South Australia, interstate or overseas. Your idea may stem from a start-up business or it may be a fledging idea conceived in an established company.
The HWA LAB is your opportunity to develop your project under the mentorship of world-class experts, leveraging Adelaide’s ultra-fast GigCity Internet connection to put your ideas on the pathway to commercial success.
The State Government will contribute $85,000 in grants and provide business development advice and industry insight through high tech start up agency, TechInSA, to support the HWA LAB and help entrepreneurs and innovative companies commercialise their ideas.
Applications have now closed. Applicants will be advised of the status of their submission by Wednesday 20 September.
HWA LAB OVERVIEW
Adelaide is the first international city to join the growing US Ignite Smart Gigabit Communities Program. The partnership will open the door to new collaborations and sharing of information that will enable the development and testing of ground-breaking gigabit applications, data and services. The HWA LAB is your opportunity to develop your project under the mentorship of world-class experts, leveraging Adelaide’s ultra-fast GigCity Internet connection to put your ideas on the pathway to commercial success.
Participants will spend two full days immersed with other founders and pioneers, refining their product concepts and networking with industry peers. The HWA LAB provides an exciting and inspiring environment where the teams will learn from each other, as well as from deeply experienced mentors. Over the two days, participants will benefit from exclusive presentations from international experts and opportunities to work with industry mentors one-on-one to refine their product concept and business plan.
Participants will learn proven strategies for creativity and idea generation, which can be applied to real-world problems in a disciplined way to generate ideas on demand, and they will gain insight about funding for early-stage ventures.
WHO CAN APPLY
If you have a new project, product or idea that applies digital technology to real world problems, we want to hear from you. We welcome submissions from start-up ventures and from established firms. Companies with visionary ideas and projects in any field of technology including, but not limited to, agtech, foodtech, biotech, space, genomics, robotics, artificial intelligence, data analytics and blockchain, who are at the pre-funding or seed-funded stage are encouraged to apply. The HWA LAB is looking for smart tech solutions that maximize the high-speed internet connection delivered through GigCity Adelaide.
We are seeking novel product concepts and fresh ideas which are focused on applying digital technology to problems facing consumers or industry. Think of the mind-controlled wheelchair, driverless vehicles, precision agriculture, portable X-ray machines or 3-D printed heart valves – these all started as great ideas that used technology to solve common problems.
We are looking for projects or inventions state-wide, nationally and internationally; anyone with a strong idea who is ready to take the next step in developing their business and brand. Successful participants are invited to attend the 1½ day Industry Conference as a guest of HWA, and required to attend the full two-day HWA LAB program.
Participants will attend a two-day development and networking event, and have the advantage of one-to-one sessions with mentors who will provide valuable feedback and advice on each business concept. If you have a working product or prototype, please bring it with you. The mentors will also want to know about your founding team, your vision, your approach to marketing and distribution, your capital formation strategy, and what makes your company unique.
