NASA’s Christyl Johnson Joins Hybrid World Adelaide



Dr. Christyl Johnson, Deputy Director for Technology and Research Investments at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, in Greenbelt, Maryland will lead the Hybrid World Adelaide conference in exploring innovation and research in space industry from July 23 -24.

Announced as part of the HWA Interactive program today is renowned broadcaster and podcaster Marc Fennell from Triple j, The Feed, Radio National who will impart his wisdom and knowhow to aspiring podcasters wanting industry insights on how to make a great podcast.  Part of the largely free HWA interactive program, Marc will offer two exclusive ticketed masterclasses as he assists aspiring hosts to start their own podcast or take current projects to the next level.

Set to lead a discussion exploring the Australian space innovation industry, Dr. Christyl Johnson is responsible for charting the future path of NASA Goddard’s research arm, including instigating what science orientated missions they will conduct in astrophysics, earth science, planetary science and heliophysics, and developing an integrated portfolio of technology investments to enable those missions.

Before joining Goddard, Johnson was responsible for ensuring the establishment of clear U.S. national goals for Federal science and technology policy in a broad array of areas across the executive branch at the White House, where she served under the President’s Science Advisor as the Executive Director of the National Science and Technology Council.

Dr. Johnson said that she was excited for the opportunity to come to Hybrid World Adelaide.

Adjoining today’s announcement is a national artistic call out for artwork to be part of the curated HWA Water Screen. Set to light up the River Torrens with a magical 12-meter tall and 25-metre-wide wall of mist across four nights of Hybrid World Adelaide, the HWA Water Screen will host a live retro gaming station and showcase original creative artworks supplied by independent Australian and international artists.
