ADELAIDE, 25 SEPTEMBER 2017: This October, digital influencer stars Sabre Norris and her brother Biggy Norris will visit Adelaide for the first time to attend the new digital technology festival Hybrid World Adelaide (HWA).
Sabre, who shot to fame when US TV host Ellen DeGeneres discovered one of her many surfing and skating YouTube videos, will appear with Biggy on the HWA Main Stage for two sessions on Sunday 8 October.
In the first session at 12pm, Sabre and Biggy, whose YouTube videos have been watched by millions, will host a one-off meet and greet giving fans a chance to snap a selfie, “say g’day” and chat to the child surf and skate prodigy.
At 1:30pm Sabre and Biggy will be back on the HWA Main Stage, this time with Clare Winterbourn, co-founder of social marketing agency The Scouted and founder of Born Bred Talent. In this Q&A these experts will be answering your most pressing questions about what it takes to become a successful influencer. This session will be hosted by local radio personality and content creator Cameron Doyle.
Hybrid World Adelaide, which runs from 4-8 October, is a digital festival which will give attendees a glimpse into tomorrow’s technologies today. It features a range of industry and public events that appeal to everyone from the tech-curious to tech devotees. Visitors can learn how to fly drones, code computers, build robots as well as how to use apps and social channels for marketing, with Sabre and Biggy giving tips on how to use social and digital media to build a profile and become an influencer.
Hybrid World Adelaide creative director Janet Gaeta said the siblings were an exciting addition to the festival.
“We know the audience will enjoy learning from Sabre and Biggy. Together they have more than 200,000 followers, which is an amazing achievement at such a young age, and we are pleased they will help communicate what goes into building a profile and creating digital content that resonates,” Janet said.
“Hybrid World is the perfect festival for the public to get the chance to try, create, and experience all that is and all that will be part of our digital future.”
Sabre was the youngest surfer to ever compete in the open round of the Sydney International Women’s Pro. The 12-year old pocket rocket also took the world by storm during her multiple appearances on The Ellen Show, including a segment where she interviewed celebrities at the Kids’ Choice Awards. DeGeneres went on to say that Sabre was one of her favourite people to meet in 2016.
The How to Become a Successful Influencer session will take place at the Tonsley Innovation District during Hybrid World Adelaide, on Sunday 8 October at 12pm and 1:30pm, along with a meet and greet (both sessions are free on the HWA Main Stage).
